The Center for Research, Innovation, Transformation and Sustainability (CRITS) of Green University of Bangladesh, in collaboration with IQAC, organized a seminar titled βFrom Ideas to Assets: Understanding Intellectual Property Rightsβ on 27 April 2026, marking World Intellectual Property Day.
The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Director of CRITS, who emphasized the importance of intellectual property awareness in todayβs knowledge-driven economy. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Towhidul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Law at the University of Dhaka. He elaborated on key aspects of intellectual property, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, highlighting their role in protecting innovation and promoting research.
An interactive question-and-answer session provided participants with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the topic.
The seminar was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of effective patent systems in fostering research, innovation, and economic development in developing countries. He also honored the keynote speaker with an utterance as a mark of respect.
The seminar was attended by students and faculty members from various departments, making it an engaging and insightful event.
